Sometimes it is helpful to use a sacred object, or external focal point in meditation, to give the restless monkey mind something to do while the rest of you creates stillness.
In this more advanced meditation practice, the object is held in your minds’ eye – for instance, you can hold the image of a candle flame or a yin/yang symbol internally as you observe your breath and your thoughts, mindful of what arises. The discipline of this internal focus brings your meditation to deeper places in your mind, creating deeper calm, inner peace and spiritual connection. Duration: 7 min
Contraindications: If you are being treated for any form of depression or mental illness consult your healthcare practitioner before beginning any form of meditation.
