The practice of Jal Neti is a gentle irrigation of the nasal passages using salt water; ideally you will use a neti pot but a sports bottle is certainly a suitable alternative, some people prefer to neti using a simple glass of water – this is a more intense method and we recommend you do this practice a few times first with a neti pot or sports bottle. Duration: 8 min.

Benefits: Said to be the cure for all nose, eye and throat ailments, Jal Neti clears your sinuses and can relieve the symptoms of colds and allergies, clear your mind and improve your breathing.

Contraindications: avoid this practice if you have any active infection of the sinuses, ears or eyes

Teacher: Ianna Yelchinko

Neti make sense but many can not use the neti pot. there are other options which allow convenience, comfort and effectiveness. even a 2 year old can use it.

I agree, Ianna demonstrates doing it with a sports water bottle at the end of the video. I actually prefer just sniffing it out of a glass, but I'm not certain if this is an acceptable method.

Hana, you are right, I have had issues with the Neti. I came across a demo of a more modern Neti that seems much easier than the traditional Jala Neti. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UdXWm72uG8Y
